Elder Dwight Steward

Pastor

Pastor Dwight Steward was born and raised in Halley, Arkansas. He accepted Jesus Christ, as his Lord and Saviour, at 8 years of age and assisted his mother in various duties in the ministry. Under the leadership of Reverend A. D. Ford, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Hurd AR, Pastor Steward was crowned a Deacon, at 13 years of age. Pastor Steward recalls that as a young boy, his mother often shared with him that before he was born, God spoke to her, and said that he (Pastor Steward) would be a preacher. Pastor Steward stated that he would always respond…”madea, (mother) stop saying that, God hasn’t told me that!”

Pastor Steward married Evangelist Cynthia Steward in December 1984, and God willing, they will celebrate 35 years of marriage in December 2019. They have one lovely daughter, and one precious little granddaughter, and are second parents to four other lovely daughters/one handsome son, as well as second grandparents to two other precious/talented granddaughters/three handsome grandsons.

Upon the passing of Evangelist Steward’s mother, in 1986, and after being married for only 14 months, Pastor Steward and Evangelist Steward accepted the awesome responsibility of raising Evangelist Steward’s three younger sisters. Pastor Steward is dedicated to God and family.

Pastor Steward served for 20 years in the United States Navy at Miramar Naval Base, San Diego, CA. He retired as an Aviation Electrician’s Mate Senior Chief (E8). After retiring from military (Navy) in 1994, Pastor Steward pursued his childhood dream and became a Police Officer. He served for 2 years with the San Diego (CA) County Sheriff’s Department, as a Deputy Jailer and with the West Memphis (AR) Police Department for 4 years, as a Patrolman and later as a Criminal Investigator.

Pastor Steward joined Holy Hands Church of God In Christ in 1988, where under the leadership of Pastor James F. Gaines, he was ordained a Deacon in 1989. After relocating to AR in 1996, Pastor Steward and his family joined 15th Street Church of God In Christ. Under the leadership of Superintendent John H. Bennett, Pastor Steward was licensed as a minister of the Gospel in April 1998. Pastor Steward was ordained as an Elder in the Church Of God In Christ, in July 1999, by Bishop L.T. Walker, during the Holy Convocation for AR 1st Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.

Pastor Steward served as the Assistant Pastor at Imani Temple of Temecula Church of God In Christ, under the leadership of Superintendent James E. Mason, from December 2012 to February 2019. He has served faithfully in ministry in the Church of God In Christ for 31 years, in various capacities, including, Youth Leader, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Ministerial Training Staff, District Evangelist, and District Treasurer.

While Pastor Steward was traveling to Chatsworth, CA, on June 13, 2018, for a job interview, for his current job, God gave him the name…Family Worship Center Church Of God In Christ, for the new church ministry. That same day, Pastor Steward also received confirmation from God, the theme scripture, for Family worship Center, (Hebrews 10:25): “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

The inaugural service for Family Worship Center COGIC, was held on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the current location of 26377 Jefferson Ave., Suite F, Murrieta, CA, 92562.

Throughout his life, Pastor Steward believes that each of his job assignments, and ministry appointments, served as preparation for his calling as a Pastor. He truly believes in the promises of God and is a dedicated teacher of the Word of God.
